Note about Deep River, Alto 1 recording. On the word “promised” (in “that promised land”), measure 13, the alto 1 line stays on the C. (The recording includes going to a G for an eighth note, but that’s the alto 2 line.)

In the recording below of Down in the River, I purposefully sing, “dah” instead of “down” (sometimes closing to the “n”), just so we get used to the “ah” vowel instead of a diphthong.

NOTE added on 5/5/2025: This was re-recorded to reflect the change Deeji made on 5/1—on the first two verses, trebles sing, “Oh, sisters/brothers, let’s go dah” and stay on the halftone G on “dah” instead of the moving notes from G to E.

In the North Port recordings, especially the one for altos singing the alto part from verse 3, I pronounce the first syllable of “hallelujah” as both “hah" (as in hallway) and “Hal”. I don’t know why. Don’t copy me. Keep it “hah” (as in hallway).
